I haven’t written in a while but I am still here typing away. One of my favorite books on the Byzantine Empire is this textbook called The Byzantine Economy. This book is essentially about how the Byzantine economy worked throughout the ages. It is a good book that is readable by the layman who is just interested in history. It is not a book that is too scholarly in that it becomes too difficult to dive into. What I like about this book is that it goes into the several ages of the Byzantine economy to give you a chronological order. This helps to organize this huge topic into something that is more manageable to digest. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Byzantine history and is looking to learn more about the Byzantine economy.
